Smart Charging
Smart charging is a term that is usually thrown around when talking about efficient EV charging. Simply put, smart charging means using historic data and prognostic tools to charge the battery during lower electricity demand hours. This typically also means lower electricity prices, potentially saving the user up to 20%. At Peak Energy we take it a step further. Peak Energy’s software considers more data categories, such as battery size, current level and battery health limitations, to determine the ideal time and amount of charging. This is combined with user input to create the ultimate charging tool for maximum efficiency and battery health.
Peak Energy’s System Tailors To The Needs Of The User:
- User Input: The user specifies how long the car will be parked and what battery level will be required once the user needs the car.
- Optimization: We use this information along with other data to customize the optimal charging pattern throughout the parking session. While ensuring sufficient battery levels at the users desired time .
- Tailored Charging: For example, if the user doesn’t need their car to be charged to 100% every day, and only uses 50% of the battery daily. Our software will only charge to the set floor of 50% on days with high electricity prices, and take full advantage on cheaper days to fully charge the EV.
Future With V2G And Downward Regulation
Peak Energy has huge future potential with features that would increase efficiency, expand on our service options and maximize the income from frequency regulation. We’re striving for a wider range of frequency regulation options by enabling the use of downward regulation. Our system would further stabilize the grid while generating even more income. We will maximize the efficiency of our frequency regulation options by the use of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G). A process where we enable the EV’s battery to send electricity back to the grid.
